General note This study focused on the development and validation of a Teachers' Attitude Scale on LGBT Persons and Rights (TASLPR). The ABC Model of Attitude was used as a guide in formulating the items. A review of existing literature was done to aid the development of the scale, in general, and formulate the interview questions in particular. The interview guide developed was given to 17 high school teachers who served as informants. Their responses were transcribed, thematically coded and analyzed. The results were used to develop a scale consisting of 120 statements, with 40 items for the affective, 40 for behavioral, and 40 for the cognitive component. The pilot testing/trial run of the scale was conducted among 20 secondary school teachers. The initial results led to the reduction of the statements from 120 to 87. The 87-item scale was administered 1000 secondary school teachers of Pampanga. An exploratory factor analysis using Principal Component Analysis as an extraction method and Varimax with Kaiser Normalization as rotation method was done, with the retention criteria of .50 correlation degree for the statements. This yielded to 20 statements for the affective, 27 for behavioral, and 28 for cognitive items in the scale. Also, the findings revealed that the scale was valid and reliable.
