500 ## - GENERAL NOTE
General note This study aimed to develop and validate a competency test for college general education mathematics. The participants of the study were Grade 12 senior high school students who were selected from two senior high schools in Pampanga. Five sections belonged to three academic strands from one school were used as examinees for the first trial run and two sections in the academic strand from another school were used for the second trial run. The initial draft of the test consisted of 25 items in each of the topics: Numbers and Number Sense, Patterns, Functions, and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. Results of face and construct validation of the test showed that the test was fit for Grade 12 Senior High School students and that each part of the test needed one hour to answer. After the first trial run, the number of items was trimmed down to 67 where some of these remaining items still needed revisions. The final draft of the competency test in college general education mathematics was composed of 60 items in Numbers and Number Sense, Patterns, Functions and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. The computed reliabilities showed that the tests were acceptable in terms of internal consistency.
