ABSTRACT PUBLIC MARKET INVESTMENT AND OPERATION AND ITS EFFECT ON THE LIVELIHOOD INCOME OF STALLHOLDERS IN STA. QUIAMBAO, M.P.S. : PAMPANGA STATE AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY DEGREE : BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS YEAR COMPLETED : MAY 2020 The general objectives of the study were to evaluate the public market investment and operation and its effect on the livelihood income of stallholders in Sta. Lucia Resettlement, Magalang, Pampanga. Specifically, it aimed to (1) Identify the socio characteristics of the respondents; (2) determine the market operation of stallholders; (3) determine the investment and profitability in accordance to their goods and services using cost and return analysis; (4) identify problems and offer feasible solutions and; (5) propose policy recommendations. The study relied mostly on primary data with the use of the survey method of research. The respondents were personally interviewed with the aid of pre-tested questionnaire. Other pertinent information in the study were gathered from variable reading materials (dictionary, books, journals, textbooks, thesis and e-book) and other government agencies like Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the DABEE mini library. The data gathered were tabulated, analyzed and interpreted using simple averaging and percentage. Recently, Corona Virus Infectious Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic increase the number of infected in Luzon, because of that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte places Luzon under Enhance Community Quarantine for a month and it was extended until May 15, 2020. Eventually, the other 13 respondents selling outside the public market were not able to operate in accordance to the rules and regulations implemented by the Inter- Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-MEID) headed by Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles. Therefore, there were only 17 respondents interviewed in Sta. Lucia Resettlement Public Market. The researcher made use of random sampling method of the respondents from the total population in the office of Sta. Lucia Resettlement Public Market Stalls. Out of 84 total stall holders, there were only 17 respondents who took the ocular survey and were interviewed.
