ABSTRACT TITLE PRICE ANALYSIS OF RICE IN MAGALANG, AUTHOR ADVISER SCHOOL PAMPANGA NIKKA MAUN PALLASIGUI MR. JANSEN JOSHUA L. CANLAS PAMPANGA STATE AGRICULTURAL : UNIVERSITY DEGREE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS YEAR COMPLETED JULY 2022 The study was conducted to analyze the price of rice in municipality of Magalang, Pampanga, covering the 27 barangays, a total of 94 respondents were identified in the study cOvering 27 barangays. A minimum of three to four respondents per barangay were interviewed for respondents for farmers and 5 barangays interviewed for retailers and 2 barangays were interviewed for traders. Majority of them were male, married and their educational attainments are secondary and college leve. In terms of cost build-up analysis, the profit share for farmers is 10.02%, traders is 35.88% while the retailers is 54.10%. When it comes in average of palay per kilogram the average price was P15.26 with 83 or 100%. In terms of cost and returns per hectare the total sales was P5,099, 129 and the total cost of production was P3,444,429 with the net profit of P1,654,700. The total cost of production includes the costs of land preparation, fertilizer, seeds, insecticide, herbicide and irrigation. In terms of factors that affect the price changes, middleman and weather are the highest response with 83 or 100%. When the respondents were asked about the problems encountered, high cost of inputs and low price of palay are the highest response with 83 or 100%. In terms of cost of returns analysis of traders, the total sales of the traders was P7,287,500 and the total variable cost was Pl,171,500 include the cost of palay, transportation, rice milling and fuel of rice milling, and total fixed cost was P162,000 include the cost of labor. With the net profit of P5,954,000. In terms of problem encountered by the traders, competitors and rice milling are the highest response with 2 or 100%. In terms of cost and returns analysis of retailers the total sales was P2,3 1 6,000 and the total variable cost was P2,027,375 include the cost of electricity, price of rice they buy and transportation and the total fixed cost was Pl17,000 with the total cost of expenses of P2,144,375 and the net profit was P171,625.
