Performance Evaluation of Tamarind Dehulling Machine [manuscript] / Lila Lorhay H.Gorospe. - Magalang, Pampanga : Pampanga State Agricultural University, August 2022. - xiv, 48 leaves ; 28 cm. + 1 computer disc (4 3/4 in.)
This study was conducted in Pampanga State Agricultural University to evaluated a tamarind dehulling machine. This study was aimed to provide the tamarind farmers and food processing a convenient machine for dehulling tamarind. The cost of dehulling is Php 1.196 per kg. The highest efficiency of the machine is 94.33% obtained at treatment 2, which is seven days sun drying of tamarind. The highest dehulling capacity of the machine is 103.70 kg/hr treatment 2 treatment 1 at 101.16 which is 3 days sun drying of tamarind. Statistical analysis revealed that the two treatments are comparable with each other. The factors considered in dehulling the tamarind speed of the rotation of the cylinder, angle of the impact paddles, and moisture content of the tamarind. The highest Moisture content loss of the tamarind obtained at treatment 2 which is 10.667%. The dehulling losses results show that the treatment 1 with a mean of 5.7kg was the higher compared to treatment 2 at 5.17kg dehulling losses. The amount of the tamarind dehulling machine is Php160,000.00. The payback period of the investment is 7 months and 10 days while the breakeven point was 996 kp/day.
