Bambusa blumeana Schult. & Schult.f. (kawayan-tinik), Bambusa blumeana var. luzonensis (bayog) and Dendrocalamus giganteus (giant bamboo) from Pampanga State Agricultural University were evaluated for their secondary metabolites and nutraceutical properties using the Thin-Layer Chromatography and Quantitave Methods. Thin-layer Chromatography (TLC) bioautography revealed the presence of flavonoids, steroids, phenols, tannins, alkaloids, anthraquinones, anthrones, essential oils, and organic matters in all three bamboo species. It also showed that the suspensions of the three bamboo species have antibacterial activity as shown by the zones of inhibition in the TLC plates in &. coli and S. aureus. TLC bioautography DPPH free-radical scavenging analysis showed that they have potential to fight free radicals, with Bambusa blumeana or kawayan-tinik having the highest obtaining 0.06 Rf value. Cytotoxic activity was observed in the Brine shrimp lethality assay, while Choriallantoic Membrane (CAM) Assay revealed the antiangiogenic properties of the three bamboo species, with Bambusa blumeana having the highest potential in terms of having the least branching points and highest percentage inhibition. Therefore, Bambusa blumeana Schult. & £Schult.f. (kKawayan-tinik), Bambusa blumeana var. luzonensis (bayog) and Dendrocalamus giganteus (giant bamboo) are potential sources of drug products.
