The study identified the phytochemical constituents and free radical scavenging activity of the partial fractions of acacia (Samanea saman) leaves. The crude leaf extract was partially isolated using the kupchan partitioning method which yielded the methanol, DCM, and hexane fractions. The identification of the phytochemical screening by means of using spray reagent on the thin layer chromatography (TLC). Free radical scavenging activity (FRSA) of the partial fractions of acacia was detected through 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay. Results showed that the DCM (semi-polar) and methanol (polar) fraction have the same phytochemical components. They contain alkaloid, anthraquinones, anhtrones, coumarins, essential oil, flavanoids, phenol, steroids, and tannins while hexane (non-polar) fraction contains all phytochemicals tested except alkaloids.
